Josef-Peter Römer Josef-Peter Römer

I was born in Dohna, Germany (at that time, East Germany). I showed an early interest in art, winning awards from grade school in Germany and in junior high school after being adopted and immigrating to the United States. At the age of seventeen I joined the United States Marine Corps. I served four years in the infantry, including a tours in Vietnam where he was wounded in combat action.

After completing my military obligation, I enrolled at The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington, in the Fine Arts program, graduating in 1975. During my last year in school he landed a trainee job as an illustrator-animator for PBS under the tutelage of Robert Stocking, a graduate of Chinouard Art Institute in Los Angeles, California. For the next ten years I worked as an illustrator, draftsman and animator, painting part time when time allowed. As the years went by, I won many awards for my artwork.

I was accepted in the MFA program at Warnborough College In 2007 I graduated from Warnborough College with an MFA degree in painting and also at the same time accepted a position again in Germany as Creative Director for a one year contract in the entertainment industry. Returning to the USA in 2008 to Santa Rosa, California, accepting a position as Creative Director for a local design company.

In 2010 he moved to the State of Wisconsin, where I opened in his Studio and continues to paint.

The majority of my landscapes are from my early years, the rest are from present time. I paint mostly figurative paintings, Narratives.
